TECHCON 2014 Banquet Keynote Speaker: Ajit Manocha
Mr. Manocha is a veteran semiconductor industry executive with more than 30 years of global expertise in Manufacturing Operations, General Management, and Semiconductor Technology. He has a wealth of talent, experience and leadership ability.
Mr. Manocha has very recently retired after serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Global Foundries since 2011 and now serving as Strategic Advisor to GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Prior to his tenure as GLOBALFOUNDRIES's CEO, Mr. Manocha was Senior Advisor to GLOBALFOUNDRIES's investors ATIC/Mubadala for a couple of years.
Mr. Manocha served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Spansion Inc. from December 2007 to February, 2010. Mr. Manocha was responsible for all aspects of Spansion's global manufacturing operations, IT and supply chain management, including product cost, yields, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, manufacturing cycle times and customer service.
He served as a Chief Manufacturing Officer and Executive Vice President of Philips/NXP Semiconductors NV until January, 2008 and was responsible for heading up worldwide IC manufacturing, supply chain management and purchasing for the semiconductor division. At Philips Semiconductors, he made significant improvements in its supply chain and was responsible for leading the manufacturing operations to world-class operational and financial performance.
Mr. Manocha held several senior management positions with AT&T Microelectronics. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories as a Research Scientist where he was granted over a dozen U.S. and international patents for several novel inventions in the field of technology for microelectronics. He moved on to applied development, manufacturing (in the U.S. and Spain), business development and strategic alliances responsibilities within AT&T Microelectronics. He has worked in Asia, Europe and the U.S.
Mr. Manocha served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSMC. He serves as a Director of International SEMATECH, Crolles Alliance, ASMC, SVTC, and Signet Solar, Inc. He serves as a Member of Executive Council at TechNet. He is also serving as Board of Director of SIA and was the Chairman of SIA in 2013.
Last but not the least, he was appointed by President Obama to serve on Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Steering committee in 2012 and is playing a lead role to drive the national agenda to bring Advanced Manufacturing back into the US.
