2000 Mahboob Khan Outstanding Mentor Award Winners
Robert Allen of IBM Corp., has worked with Prof. Christopher Ober at Cornell University in his Resist Research Task for over five years. During that time, he has mentored several graduate students who have gone on to join SRC member companies, including Dr. Narayanan Sundararajan, now with Intel, and Dr. Allen Gabor, now with IBM. He is currently working with SRC student Alyssandrea Hamad.
Mark Mason of Texas Instruments, began working with Professor Roxann Engelstad of the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1998 in her work in the Advanced Lithography field. According to the students he has mentored, Mr. Mason’s unmatched enthusiasm for their project as well as his ability to aid in overcoming roadblocks and obstacles have contributed to a successful research process.
David F. Reed of AMD, started working with Professor J. Strother Moore at UT/ Austin in 1995 in the area of Formal Verification of Microprocessor models. Mr. Reed’s ability to enable relationships between student researchers and the SRC community has been especially important to SRC Fellow Rob Sumners, now with AMD, and Jun Suwada, now with IBM.
Prashant Sawkar of Intel Corp., has worked with Professor Margaret Sadowska from UC/Santa Barbara and Professor Massoud Pedram of the University of Southern California in the field of Logic Synthesis. Dr. Sawkar has worked hard to build lines of communication between the University and Intel, resulting in the permanent hire of USC student Pasquale Cocchinni and a summer internship for SRC student Jim Chang.
