Intel's Michael Mayberry

SRC is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Mayberry—Vice President, Technology and Manufacturing Group, Intel and SRC Board of Directors member—will deliver the keynote address at TECHCON 2010. The keynote is entitled "A Look Forward" and will examine possibilities for continued innovations in materials, technology, and integration.

Dr. Mayberry observes that predictions are hard, especially about the future. The semiconductor industry needs continued innovations and yet does not know precisely how they will appear. Nevertheless, the expectation is for continued advancements in materials, technology, and integration. That in turn will allow us to offer compelling products and to solve some of the great challenges for society.

Dr. Mayberry is director of Components Research which is the research arm for the Technology and Manufacturing Group of Intel. He is responsible for ongoing research to enable future process options for Intel's technology development organizations. This scope includes internal research, external university research, and other external collaborations.

As a member of the SRC Board of Directors, Dr. Mayberry has consistently provided a stream of excellent strategic advice, representing not only Intel's interests, but the interests of the industry as a whole. He has also demonstrated his interest in SRC research and students by participating in a number of TECHCON Conferences and SRC is very pleased to have him deliver this year's keynote address.

Since joining Intel in 1984 as a process integration engineer, Dr. Mayberry has held a variety of positions. As part of the California Technology development team, he developed EPROM, flash and logic wafer fabrication processes. In 1994, he moved to Sort Test Technology Development, most recently as director, responsible for roadmaps and development of test processes for Intel microprocessors. In 2005, he moved to Components Research.

Dr. Mayberry received his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of California/Berkeley in 1983 and his bachelor's degree in chemistry and mathematics from Midland College in 1978.
