Industry surpasses $629 million invested through SRC since inception to develop technology and talent, with nearly 3300 students receiving advanced degrees from SRC-supported programs; a record 20 SRC-sponsored patents were issued, bringing the total to 233.

The number of universities conducting research supported by SRC reaches 94, including a record 23 universities outside the United States.

The Faculty Recognition Award for Student Recruiting is created to recognize and reward principal investigators who are most successful in recruiting native-born or naturalized students.

More than 1,000 students participate in SRC-funded research; another 450 participated in MARCO/FCRP-funded research. Of SRC students graduating in 2004, 70% went to work for SRC member organizations or are undergraduate or master’s students continuing to higher degrees.

The first International Fellowship was awarded outside the United States to a student at National Taiwan University.
