The Energy Research Initiative (ERI) is created to enable reliable low-cost renewable energy systems and efficient energy use and distribution through an enabled and optimized smart grid.
Highlights
-
Part of ERI, The Network for Photovoltaic Technology (NPT) Center at Purdue University is addressing the performance, cost, reliability and manufacturing challenges of photovoltaic technologies.
-
A multi-university Smart Grid Research Center (SGRC) at Carnegie Mellon University—also a part of ERI—is working to support the incorporation of renewable energy resources and to provide the modeling, simulation and control tools needed to manage, optimize and secure the power grid.
-
New and emerging research initiatives are being explored in the areas of bioelectronics, sensors research and cyber security.
