Overview
Occasionally, projects are proposed to NRI that warrant funding but do not fit into one of the existing NRI-NIST Centers body of work. Often these cover new areas of research, and are part of a larger nanoelectronics center at a university. The ability to leverage these investments, and to have strong synergy between the NRI project and the larger centers technical mission, are key considerations in launching these initiatives.
Research Focus
Each project has a unique area of specialty in nanoelectronics, and more details on each project’s theme can be found on the center’s catalog page.
Center Management
Each University center has its own director and extended university team which manage and conduct research in line with the center's mission. Each NRI joint-funded project is conducted by one or more PIs in the center, and an NRI Liaison Team, consisting of researchers from the sponsor companies and NIST, works with each center to share industry expertise, equipment and feedback, as well as guidance and material help during all research phases. All centers also participate in the NRI Annual Review in the Fall.
